What is Unitectra?

Unitectra is the technology transfer organization of the Universities of Bern and Zurich. With its services it supports the scientists in their collaborations with private industry and other public or private research institutions. The transfer of research results into new products and services is fostered through the definition of commercialization strategies and their realization together with the scientists. The transfer occurs either in collaboration with established companies or through the creation of new spin-off companies.

Unitectra has cooperation agreements with a number of partner institutions whose scientists also have access to Unitectra's services.

The main services of Unitectra include:

  • commercialization of research results (protection and management of intellectual property (patents, etc.), commercialization strategy, search for suitable commercial partners, negotiation of licensing agreements)
  • negotiation of research agreements
  • support for the creation of new spin-off companies
  • contact point for comercial partners with regard to technology transfer issues 
  • training and education for scientists in the field of technology transfer

Unitectra is a non-profit making limited company which is entirely owned by the universities of Bern and Zurich
